Dr. Mandy Hartley is a science educator and children's author of an award winning series of "DNA Detectives" fiction

books for 7 - 14yr olds. With a  PhD in Genetics and working with DNA for over 15 years, as a researcher, Clinical Scientist and Forensic

Scientist. Dr Mandy Hartley regularly performs workshops and stories to teach children about science across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire and has appeared at the Norwich and Cheltenham Science Festivals.

In this exciting "DNA Detectives" workshop for home educated  children, we will find out what DNA is, where we find it in our bodies and how big it is. They will have an opportunity to extract DNA, just like real scientists! We discover that this is an important start point for many different careers working in the field of genetics and see the impact this tiny molecule can have on people around the world. This is a wonderful introduction to DNA and will help with children's understanding evolution and inheritance.
